    How to punch fabric

    As seen in Papercraft inspirations

Give your cards, layouts & papercraft projects a tactile fabric finish with our guide to how to use paper punches on fabric.

    Step 1

Put your chosen fabric on a non-stick surface (baking parchment works well). Brush fabric stiffener generously over the fabric until it is quite wet. Leave the fabric to dry thoroughly - overnight is best.

    Step 2

Once dry your fabric will have a crisp, stiff finish perfect for punching. You will probably need to press the punch harder than if you were using paper or card - be prepared to use both hands!

    Step 3

For best results choose dressweight cotton fabrics as these will fit into your punches easily and will have nice, clean-cut edges. The textured surface is retained but with no fraying.
