This easy sewing project is great for beginners. All you need to get started is some bold floral fabric from your local fabric shop, a few pins, a length of ribbon and your sewing machine!

 Step 1To make this easy bag, cut two pieces of fabric, both 32 x 42cm. Pin them together with the right sides facing each other, and sew across the bottom and along the long sides, stopping 4.5cm from the top. |
 Step 2Next, fold over the the top of your fabric by 3cm. Stitch about 1.5cm down to make a tube. You can also stitch along the very top of the fold to neaten the edge if you like. |
 Step 3Turn the bag the right way out and press with an iron to remove any creases. Thread ribbon or cord through the channel you created at the top, and tie together at the ends. Here’s a tip: attach a safety pin to the end of your ribbon and use this to help you thread it through. |
