The only thing prettier than having a vase of flowers on a table is having your very own embroidered floral tablecloth - and you can guarantee that these flowers won't lose their petals! This beautiful anemone design will add a splash of colour to any room. Anemones come in many different varieties and are sometimes called the windflower. In Greek mythology, anemones were associated with Adonis who was loved by Aphrodite. One day, while out hunting, Adonis shot a particularly large boar who turned on him and gored him to death. Aphrodite got to Adonis just as he died and as she cried over his life less body, the god Zeus created a flower that a rose from the blood-soaked ground, the anemone. The bereaved Aphrodite is said to have used the flower to preserve her lover's memory and greet new life in the spring, a time when anemones are abundant. With their distinct fresh and clear colours, anemones come from the buttercup family in a range of rich hues. This table cloth features a white flower with a yellow-green centre which is actually very rare in nature. To show the flowers off to their full potential, four strandsof stranded cotton have been used. This givesa lovely chunky feel to each bloom. The most popular embroidery stitches have been used in the design - satin stitch gives smoothness, French knots add a 3D quality and long and short stitch for the petals gives texture. Once you've stitched along one side of the tablecloth, just repeat the pattern onthe other three. You'll just love the results!
