Life is a bowl of cherries...

Embroider your favourite fruit with this juicy design. Plus stitch a classic red cherry card for a quick gift too

Have a special treat and buy yourself a bunch of cherries. If you're addicted to this fruit, you're not alone.

“Who can resist munching through a plate of juicy cherries filled with liquid sunshine?” asks Heather, “Not me!”

And when she's not munching on them, she's designing them instead.“I was inspired by a very pretty greetings card with a bowl of cherries on the front so I set out to design something similar. I went to the supermarket and picked some up, brought them home, put them in a little plate, then did a quick sketch of them. By the end of it, I'd eaten half the cherries! It took me just an hour from starting my sketch to being able to start embroidering. I couldn't wait to sit down and bring them to life in thread.”

So, do cherries hold a special significance for Heather? “Yes,” she reminisces, “When I left home all those years ago my mum gave me a lovely present. It was a white ceramic wicker basket filled with red china cherries with tiny green stalks. As she handed it to me she said, 'Life is a bowl of cherries,' and with that advice I went out into the world. I keep it with me wherever I go now.”
