Stitch a minibook cover
As seen in Papercraft inspirations
We show you how to use stitching to create unique cards, minibooks & layouts
To make this mini book cover, fold a piece of red card in half to form a 15x15cm square. Follow the steps below to create a basic flower and then comes the fun part! To make the grungy stitched centre, cut a card circle. Starting at the outer edge, straight stitch continuously, twisting to create a spiral. Adhere any loose thread ends to the back, then glue to the mini book cover. To finish, add various folded sheets of paper inside for pages. Pierce two holes through the pages, then bind with ribbon, tied in a bow.
Step 1Sketch out a flower design on some scrap paper, so it's large enough to cover most of the cover of your mini book. Cut around the petals to create a template. |
Step 2Using co-ordinating sheets of patterned paper, trace and cut out petals of a flower shape. Adhere the petals (without a centre) overlapping the edges of the mini book cover. |
Step 3Next, using a large zig-zag stitch setting, carefully machine stitch around the edges of each of the petals. Attach the loose ends to the inside of the cover as you go. |
