Confused by one of knitting's important knots? Here's how to do it.
 Step 1Take your yarn and make a loop as shown here, with the ball end of yarn in your left hand and the free end in your right hand. |
 Step 2Holding where the two pieces of yarn meet on the first loop in your right hand, use the left hand to make another loop and feed it from the back, through the first loop. |
 Step 3Pull the second loop through the first loop, so that the first becomes quite tight. |
 Step 4Feed your needle through the big loop and pull the ball end of the yarn until the loop comfortably holds the needle. Now you're ready to start casting on. |
