Having just made a bunch of pom poms, I looked up your tutorial to see if you had a better method than the one I used. (I purchased a pom pom kit with 3 sets of plastic disks in 3 different sizes.) I'm happy with how mine turned out but wished I'd had more sizes to choose from. Now I see that I can make the size I want out of cardboard. Yea! I suggest, however, modifying your directions at Step 2. Balling up the yarn and putting it through the hole works for a while, but eventually the hole will become too small to do that. A tapestry needle (large needle with a big eyehole and blunt end) allows you to complete a thick wrap like the one in your photo. The needle also cuts your work in half because it allows you to wrap with two strands of yarn instead of one. Goes much faster this way!
