    Tristan cardigan

This exquisitely constructed, textured cardigan was inspired by men’s knitwear of the 1950s

“The British television series All Creatures Great and Small is one of my favourite places to ogle well constructed and interesting hand knits,” says the American designer Todd Gocken. “This design was inspired by an interesting green cardigan worn by Peter Davison’s character in the second series. Its use of garter stitch combined with garter ribbing made for a unique and appealing design. Using those design elements, I have created this interpretation of Tristan’s cardigan; transformed and updated for today’s tastes.”

This pattern is designed for nine men's sizes, to fit chests from 91cm to 132cm. It's available in issue 49 of The Knitter - the price we've listed is for buying the digital issue on Apple Newsstand.

I'm trying to get this one started, too, and saw the same error on Row 5 and was surprised not to see the errata mentioned anywhere, so may thanks for confirming.

Also, Is there an extra "Slip the first 4 sts from the RH needle back to the LH needle" in the BODY cast on section?

The rep from * to ** until you have cast on the desired number of stitches, ends with, "Slip the first 4 sts from the RH need back to the LH needle." But, the very next instruction is "Slip the first 4 sts from the RH needle back to the LH needle."

Aren't the first 4 sts already on the LH needle? Or, does this mean slip the next 4 sts from the RH needle to the LH needles, so you end up with 8 sts on the RH needle?

Then, is the "Knit all" in the next instruction only the 4 end stitches or the 8 end stitches? The latter doesn't make any sense, so I'm assuming this is an error.

I am knitting this now, and finally finished i-cord cast on - never done that before! What I don't understand is that the i-cord up the sides is just one row to two on the body. I am persisting, and hope it all works out in the end. I have also substituted the yarn for something thicker, and had to go down to 4mm needles to get the tension, so it is hard work! I really hope I don't run out of yarn - I have the meterage, so fingers crossed...
I am also hoping that the i-cord on one side tightens up as I go as it isn't very 'fat' at the moment.
Oh, and I noticed a mistake in the pattern - Body Row 5 should read: Row 5 (WS): sl4, k6, slm, (P2, K2) to second marker, K6, Sl4.
    NOT (K2, P2)
    Hope that helps.

Good luck, pumpkingirl, and thanks for your comment. Konrad finished his version (below) following the pattern, so hopefully yours will work out beautifully too!

where can you find the errata? It is mentioned by the top comment in this section but I can't find it otherwise? Many thanks

Hi Jenny, I'll ask The Knitter team to take a look at this error and confirm – the team usually add corrections to the Errata page on their website: http://theknitter.themakingspot.com/errata

Meanwhile, you can see the second comment down from Pumpkin girl details the correction she did when knitting this pattern.

Today I finished this cardigan. I've substituted the yarn and used one from my stash, that knits the same gauge.
