Winter provides the perfect excuse for curling up on the sofa with a cup of coffee and your knitting project. Inspired by cosy firesides, our Sunset collection comprises a colourful cushion and cafetiere cover, and a chunky throw to snuggle under.
The throw knitting pattern, by Jen Arnall-Culliford, is knitted in Blacker Yarns' undyed North Ronaldsay aran; alternating squares feature butterfly and diamond patterning, finished with a garter-stitch border.
Judy Furlong's cafetiere cover pattern is a chance to try out a few new skills - principally Fair Isle in the round and knitted steeks. “Best of all, the cut edge of the steek is fully bound, hiding any 'wobbles' on a first attempt,” says Judy. It is designed so that the pattern is easily altered to fit the cafetiere for which it is destined.
Juliet Bernard's cushion pattern was inspired by a talk given by Alice Starmore on the colours of nature: “As I travelled home on the train, there was a wonderful sunset, with amazing shades of orange and pink peaking out from behind sombre grey clouds,” says Juliet. “Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn comes in the perfect shades to recreate that stunning evening.”
