This endearing baby blanket design has been created by Juliet Bernard, and whether you knit it for your own new arrival or as a celebratory gift, it is sure to become a much-loved coverlet. Juliet says, “So many people I know are having babies. I love to knit blankets because they are so useful and babies don't grow out of them as quickly either. Knowing they will be used for longer makes me want to make the blanket that I knit extra-specially lovely.”

Juliet's design - part of our baby knitting patterns range - features stitch patterns that create the effect of a contemporarystyle sampler. She explains: “Babies are so precious. I took the theme of a sampler and wanted to symbolise this preciousness in my motifs so I chose diamonds for the outer blocks. The central block shows the Tree of Life flanked by two strings of pearls. Pearls are a symbol of purity and are said to be protective. With so much hope and love in this blanket, the yarn choice was really important. Sirdar Eco Wool is a lovely warm yarn that is fun to knit and made from 1% virgin wool.” There are 7 shades of Eco Wool available, and with 61 shades of the Snuggly DK used for the cast-off, you can have some fun.
