The distinctive, black-and-white patterns of Sanquhar knitting developed in the Scottish town of that name in the 1700s, and were typically worked in the round to create mittens and stockings. This cushion takes two traditional Sanquhar patterns - The Duke, and Midge and Fly - and reinterprets them for flat knitting using pure-breed wool.

This design comes from Pure Wool, the new pattern book by Sue Blacker. The pattern is featured in issue 50 of The Knitter - the price we've listed is for buying the digital issue on Apple Newsstand.
