    Pretty cute mittens

Jane Burns' lacy mittens are pretty enough to wear with evening outfits

    lacy, quick

Lacy mittens are a perfect addition to your autumn wardrobe. They’ll keep your hands warm, even though they’re lightweight, but they’re not so bulky that they make it impossible to do anything manual. It’s such a nice feeling to be cosy while keeping your hands free to move!

Our lacy mitts, designed by Jane Burns, are so pretty and delicate, you can wear them with daytime wear and evening wear. They’ll look just as gorgeous with jeans as they will with a cocktail dress. Their open lacework design and scalloped picot edging make them a versatile accompaniment to all sorts of looks from casual to more formal.

This is one of our series of pdf knitting patterns first published in Simply Knitting magazine. Please note that yarn shade (Bergère de France Ciboulette in purple) used in this pattern was exclusive to Simply Knitting issue 98 and is not repeatable, although other shades are available. I love these mitts and they will be great for my arthritic hands.

    BUT

I keep getting too many stitches (up to 60) and have to give up. Started them 6 times now and totally confused, as when I did a hat using the yarn over stitch it came out ok.

Any hints what I'm doing wrong I would be most grateful as they would be ideal for a outfit I have planned for a Christmas function.

    Thank you in advance..

Hello! I'll ask our knitting experts and see if they can offer any tips – perhaps some of the other commenters here will be able to help too!

I have figured it out, I was doing my yarn over back to front, I think that was why I was adding stitches, it;s going ok now although slowly with my painful hands, thank you

I've made a pair for me with the beautiful bergere de france cream and two more pairs for my daughters (in a black merino and a purple dk). First time I've knitted in the round and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
