Don’t throw out that boring old top, refresh it with a new knitted collar. “I’d seen lots of patterns for crocheted collars,” explains Miriam McDonald, “but knitted ones seemed few and far between, so I decided to make one of my own.”
There’s one collar that goes all the way around the neck and two knitted in parts. The solid one needed to have some drape, so Miriam used King Cole Bamboo Cotton, which is soft yet has a smooth finish. The two-part collars are knitted in pure cotton yarns for crispness, and you can starch them if need be. None of the collars take a complete ball of yarn, so if you’ve got a part-ball of cotton DK kicking around, one of them will use it up.
