    Oakleaves & acorns cushions

Use the appliqué technique to bring the outside into your living room with these fab autumn-inspired cushions.

You can do much more with knitting than simply making scarves, cardigans and sweaters. Why not turn your skill to making stylish additions to your interior? Knitted accessories for your home can bring a warmth and cosiness that's perfect for the winter months. This pair of decorative cushion covers designed by Louise Butt bring the colours of autumn into your home. The patterns were been inspired by the archetypal English tree, the oak. Louise has created some pretty relief designs using a technique called appliqué to embellish the simple stocking stitch cover. “I wanted to create a design that reflected my family roots from the Forest of Dean. I love the strength and majesty that the oak represents, and it's such a beautiful tree in the autumn as the leaves change colour from green to rust, which I have mirrored in the colours I've used here,” says Louise.
