As seen in The Knitter
Delicate evening cover up in pretty lace patterning, with frilled cuffs, beaded detail and matching bag
Amanda Crawford has designed this pretty shrug with coordinating bag, to make an elegant evening ensemble. Ideal to layer over your special outfit, the feminine touches of this shrug will keep the chilly air off your shoulders with style. Amanda says, “My inspiration came from a thought about 'A night at the opera' - I can just see the shrug setting off the outfit as it's worn over an elegant evening gown, then not forgetting the dolly bag to complete the look.” The lacework patterning, frills and beading all add up to create a set that is fun to wear, and still quick to knit. The shrug and bag set are named Musetta after one of the female characters in Puccini's opera, La Bohème. The yarn that Amanda has chosen for her set is Patons cotton DK, for a soft finish and it is available in 25 shades. “It is one of my favourite yarns for lace, as the stitch clarity it gives is excellent. The high twist on the yarn helps stop it splitting,” says Amanda. The lace pattern is a simple variation on the traditional Feather and Fan stitch pattern and is only worked over one row, making this a great introduction for knitters who are new to lace.
