    Fair Isle, intermediate, multi-coloured

Inspired by a trip to the Shetland Islands, in the company of other knitters, Jane Crowfoot set about creating a colourful ‘tam’ or traditional beret using jewel-like shades of Jamieson & Smith’s Shetland wool. “Working Fair Isle in the round is a such a rewarding process and quick, too, when you’re creating a hat,” she says.

This pattern is for one size only, with a band circumference of 47cm. It should comfortably fit an adult head up to 60cm circumference. You can find our list of knitting abbreviations here.
