Sarah Hatton is such an imaginative and interesting designer who can take a simple idea and work magic with it. From our original brief - to create a set of women's accessories incorporating i-cord techniques - she has designed this feminine shrug, hat and mittens. The three items are made from Rowan Felted Tweed Aran, a blend of merino, alpaca and viscose that is available in 12 shades; Sarah has used a dove grey colour, with a soft blue as a contrast. Each item has two neat cable designs, the larger of the two featuring bobbles in the centre of its diamonds. The shrug pattern covers five sizes from a 32-inch to a 5-inch bust. The mittens and hat are sized for an average adult. If you want an extra cosy hat for winter outdoor activities, then it would be straightforward to line this lovely earflap hat with polar fleece for an extra snuggle-factor. All three of the items in this set use an applied i-cord edging to complete them. Our Masterclass on p86 gives a step-bystep guide to this edging. We are sure that you will be seeing the possibilities of using it on many more garments in the future.
