This stylish scarf is a combination of textured stitch patterns which complement each other beautifully. It will contrast nicely against textiles with sleeker textures, such as linen, gaberdine or denim. The stitch patterns are made up of rows that are repeated, so you can make it as long as you like simply by repeating sections.
Kyoko Nakayoshi told us, “I wanted to design a scarf that you can wear for any occasion. So I concentrated on simple but interesting stitches to knit and to wear. Knit and purl motifs used for the scarf works really well for yarns that have a beautiful shimmer.”

Tried it again in pure merino for a present. I'm really pleased with the detail on the plain wool!

I've finished my scarf and I love it! I've used King Cole Smooth in 'natural' and it's so soft. A wonderful pattern with a feminine mix of stitches. You can see my scarf on my flickr account http://www.flickr.com/photos/topazriver/8130737696/in/photostream

Love your photo, you look very cosy! The colour you've chosen really highlights the stitch patterns. Thanks for sharing :)

All finished. Monsoon wool in S7
Daisy did you sort out the lace section? Sounds like the 4 and 5 knit stitches at the ends. That got me a couple of times!

Wow, Pauline, I love your scarf, it's gorgeous! Thanks for your reply. I sussed it in the end, I was knitting a stich when putting the yarn over instead of just putting the yarn over - oops! I've almost finished it, full of mistakes due to lack of concentration (doh) but still pleased as it's my first ever knitting project and only taught myself to knit a few weeks ago!!

Daisy I'm impressed at you making this for a first project! It took me a lot of concentration and I've been knitting years!
Post a pic, I hope you enjoyed making it, nothing more enjoyable than having a project you enjoy!

I do enjoy a challenge! I really enjoyed making it and have a great sense of achievement now it's finished (even with the mistakes!) Have now also knitted a tea cosy, just started some baby hats, then going to attempt a cardigan - am hooked already!
