    How to moss stitch

    As seen in Simply Knitting

Using the same technique that helps form the rib stitch, you can knit this striking effect.

This is the effect created when you knit 1, purl 1 across a row. This is a great stitch that keeps its shape, yet remains flexible.

A useful rule of thumb: if you have an even number of stitches on your needles, always start with a knit stitch. Moss stitch is essentially a 1x1 rib like the one we've demonstrated here. To have a go, cast on 20 stitches.

    Row 1

K1, P1 to the end of the row.

    Row 2

P1, K1 to the end of the row.

Repeat these two rows and you should get this effect.
