Creating a special gift of a wonderful wedding day for the happy couple is a pleasure when you stitch Deborah Lester's romantic sampler
Deborah designed this wedding sampler and she talks to us about her background, the design process and her inspiration, “I started out as a freelance artist and took some hand-painted tapestry canvases to a local shop in Aberdeen back in 1994. They took a few of them for sale but were more interested to find out if I could reproduce my work as cross stitch kits. This was my first introduction to cross stitch and I was hooked from then on. I love colour and find designing cross stitch really satisfying and therapeutic, plus I get to use beautiful silks and beads. When designing a piece like 'United In Love' I start with the basic concept and research it to get ideas flowing. Quite often the end result is nothing like how I had imagined it at the beginning but usually better.”
