Learn the ribbonwork technique with Lesley Teare's classic rose bushes
Lesley has given a stylish update to the traditional Victorian art of ribbonwork, which was used to make 3D floral decorations out of ribbon for embellishing hats, garments and other textiles. It's a really creative dimension to add to a cross stitch project and, like appliqué, the roses are easily created with a few simple stitches. We've made our designs into pretty sachets to fill with lavender and hang in the wardrobe, but all three stitched or framed together would make a gorgeous triptych to display on a wall.
