Family is so important at Christmas and sharing special moments together decorating the tree can be a joy, as Deborah explains, “Christmas is the one time of year when I like to push the boat out and dress up our home to really celebrate in style, but it is the Victorians that really made Christmas what it is today. Decorating the Christmas tree and living room is my favourite part of the preparations, which is why I have been especially delighted to create this Christmas cross stitch pattern featuring a Victorian family decorating their tree by a cosy log fire. I particularly couldn't resist including our old black labrador, Brodie in his favourite position in front of the fire, a nice contrast to the cold snowy scene outside the window. While striving to recreate some of the detail of a Victorian home at Christmas, I have had to include some fractionals and backstitch, however, I have tried to keep these to a minimum, to make this design as enjoyable to stitch as possible by any level of stitcher.”
