Although predominately nocturnal, this wonderful bird of prey can often be seen hunting at dawn on the edges of woodland before it flies back home. This striking cross stitch pattern by Lesley Teare catches this moment perfectly as the owl takes a well-deserved rest among the morning glory and sweet-smelling honeysuckle. With his head slightly tilted as if he’s keeping an ear open for distant field mice, we reckon that this handsome fellow is poised to take off at any moment. Then again, perhaps he’s just making the most of the early morning sun!
