    Easy tote bag

Put your feet up and make yourself a present – Kirstie McLeod’s crocheted bag

You deserve something nice, and even if you’re rushed off your feet, you’ve still got time to crochet this bag for yourself. It’s easy, so you’ll be able to do it while watching your favourite TV shows. “It uses the most common crochet stitches. Double crochet, trebles, chain and slip stitch are all you need to know,” says Kirstie McLeod, adding, “And because you crochet it in rounds, there’s very little sewing to do at the end.” The finished bag measures 26x29cm.

It would make an excellent small project bag as it’s roomy enough for a book or magazine, accessories and a couple of balls of yarn. Alternatively, it’s a great little handbag – though it may perform a disappearing act if you have teenage daughters!

I'm struggling with Round 3....it begins with 1 treble (4ch), and either ends with a gap in the last 2ch sp, or 3 trebles? I wish it was clearer, as it's a lovely pattern.

Hi Lesley! Hm, I haven't tried this pattern yet, but I'll ask designer Kirstie about this and get back to you :)

I have finished making the bag! Just need to stitch the flower on. I used the Debbie Bliss Bella yarn in red, black and beige. There are more stripes in my version because I could tell I was going to run out of the beige colour! If I were to make it again I would buy more of the first shade (green in the pattern). My first attempt at the handles also came out to the side, not sure why - could there be a mistake in the pattern?I have to say though I have never been very good at following crochet patterns. If I try to crochet a square or rectangle it never comes out with straight edges! Anyway, I counted the stitches that I had in the round and worked out how to space the handles evenly. The bag looks really lovely, but seems quite stretchy - you wouldn't want to put anything heavy in it. I am going to try lining it with some cotton fabric or felt and see how that works out.

well I finished it, used Paintbox leopard print double knitting, I went a bit wrong somewhere with the handle they are a bit to one side but all in all I am happy with it. Not attempted the flower yet. Took less than 100 grams..

first ever go at following a pattern for crochet I have only ever crochet granny squares till now. I am really pleased with how it is turning out, not perfect but not bad for a first attempt.
