Who'd have thought twine could look so good? Combine with bright cottons for the coolest beach bag ever!

This handy bag from Ruth Maddock pushes the boundaries of crochet by using regular common or garden twine instead of the more usual yarn. The toughness of the jute will make this bag incredibly strong and it will last for years.

This pattern was in a magazine absolutely ages ago. The twine came from a garden centre long since closed. What a wonderful idea to put it on here for more people to see. Use plenty of handcream whilst making the bag as the twine can have a drying effect.
I still use my bag every week :) ***** (5 stars!)

Hi Anne-Marie. Yes, this pattern is from Simply Knitting issue 30 back in July 2007! So glad your bag is still going strong – and thanks for your tip about handcream :)
