There seem to be errors in this pattern, or maybe it is because I am from the US and we do things differently. For example: Round 1 if you chain 2 and do 8 htr into the loop, the pattern says you end up with 16 htr. I only seem to end up with 9 htr. Can anyone advise? Its a very cute hat and something that i have been looking for for awhile. I am pretty new to crochet.

Hi Jayne003,
I haven't tried this pattern, but it might be worth checking out our UK/US crochet terms conversion chart to see if that helps?

I finished this in about 3 hours. It took a while as I am brand new to crocheting and I was very confused by the wording and use of the abbreviations. I didn't understand that I was to chain 2 after every time I htr. Once I figured it out, it was less than an hour before it was done. The backward double crochet looked very awkward and didn't allow for very much stretching so I ended up taking it out and just did a single crochet to bind off, I also only did one color for the hat because I wanted to be able to change the flower as I wanted to. The It looks good. I am happy with it I made a very beautiful cap for my little one.

Thanks for your comment, Kitty Craig, I'm so glad you're pleased with your hat, I bet your little one loves it!

Nice lookig pattern - it may confuse some people to have a crochet pattern described as "This soft'n'snuggly hooded baby hat KNITTING pattern is a great last-minute gift to KNIT for new babies in the family. This pattern is a great KNIT if you're new to KNITTING as it doesn't require any tricky techniques (if you're brand new to KNITTING, see our how to KNIT tutorial). "
I haven't found it easy to knit with a crochet hook!

Well done Liddy, sounds like you've been busy! I'd like to try this project too – I'm glad you've found it simple as I'm still learning to crochet.

A fabulous wet afternoon project, thoroughly enjoying the simplicity of it.
