    Make a chameleon card

    As seen in Papercraft inspirations

Kids will love creating this quirky character – he’s easy to make with a sneaky hidden message on his roll-up tongue!

Boys and girls can craft this chameleon in their favourite colours, and there's plenty of scope for embellishment with beads, stickers and sequins.

You'll need to help children trace and cut out the coloured card shapes, but they'll love sticking the pieces together with sticky foam pads then writing the hidden message on the chameleon’s tongue. There’s lots of length for a special birthday greeting!

    Step 1

Cut the body and leg shapes from green card using our template above. Draw the mouth and tail with green pen, then attach the legs to the body with sticky foam pads.

    Step 2

For the eye, stick three strips of yellow paper together at one end and roll them up around a straw. Glue in place and wrap with green paper. Push into a cone shape from the middle.

    Step 3

Add the eye to the body with PVA glue and leave it to dry. Cover 5cm of a pink paper strip with double-sided tape. Write your greeting, roll it up and stick your tongue to the body.

    Step 4

Glue a card blank to the back of your chameleon, so the fold is at the top. Snip away any spare parts of the card, then add the tongue and decorate however you like!

    Step 5

    Your finished chameleon.

    Step 6

Here's a close up of how his tongue uncurls to reveal your message!
