Curl up with this gorgeous quilled design

It's true what they say... quilling really is thrilling. This sophisticated flower design is easy to make, even if you've never picked up a quilling tool in your life. Just follow our six simple steps. Secure the ends of your quilled shapes with a tiny drop of tacky PVA glue. You'll find a cocktail stick handy for applying the glue to small or fiddly shapes.

    Step 1

Using a quilling tool, coil seven 5cm lengths of 4mm-wide yellow paper. Stick the ends down with glue and arrange on a piece of card to make the fiower centre, as shown.

    Step 2

For the stem and leaves, cut green paper into 4mm-wide strips. Cut one strip measuring 12cm, fold it in half, glue and then fold back 5mm from each end.

    Step 3

Coil two 20cm-long green strips around the tool, allowing each to uncurl slightly to form 1.5cm circles. Pinch to form leaf shapes and then stick the leaves to the stem.

    Step 4

Cut out six 20cm lengths of bright pink paper, each 4mm wide. Coil them into 1.5cm circles, pinching between your finger and thumb to form petal shapes.

    Step 5

Stick the green stem on to one of the circles in the centre, then stick the petals around it. Rub a greeting on to a strip of pink paper or card and stick it across the bottom of the card.

    Step 6

Stick the fiower on to a length of white ribbon folded into a V-shape. Fix the ends of the ribbon on to the inside of the card so the fiower hangs down the front of your card.
