    How to make paper buttercups

    Making your own flower embellishments is a great trick for card making - plus nifty for adding DIY 3D accents to summer scrapbook layouts too!

    We love this nifty tutorial by Anna Moore - it's a free taster of our Favourite Flowers series of project downloads, and was first seen in Papercraft inspirations magazine.

    To make your own Buttercup flower embellishments, you will need:

    If you can't get your hands on Card Candi like we've used, you can easily adjust this tutorial and use punched paper circles of yellow card and use crafters' chalks to add an orangey glow!

     

     

    How to make paper buttercups - step 1

    Step 1

    To create the centre of the flower, take one Card Candi circle and start to glue the petals around it. Use a pair of tweezers to help you do this more accurately.

    Step 2

    When you have glued all five circles of Card Candi to the centre circle, leave it to dry after slightly bending the petals to create the buttercup shape.

    Step 3

    To make the centre, take another Card Candi and make small cuts all around it towards the middle, taking care not to snip across the centre. Glue this to your flower to finish!
