How to make a russian doll card

All you need to make this card at home is our free russian doll shape template (below) and a few basic card making supplies:

White card blank & scraps of card

Acetate
-
Pebeo glass paints: Pebeo black outliner, and Pebeo gold outliner, Vitrea 160 Glass Paints, Vitrea 160 Gloss Medium

Masking tape

Spray adhesive
This tutorial shows you how to a glass painted card on acetate, but you could easily adapt the design and use colouring pencils or pens on plain card if you're not ready for glass painting yet

 Step 1Download the template from this page and print out on to some thick white card. Secure a piece of acetate on top using masking tape. |
 Step 2Trace the design on to the acetate using a tube of black Outliner paint. Squeeze firmly so that the outline is quite raised and take care not to leave any gaps. Practice makes perfect! Leave this to one side to dry. |
 Step 3Once your outline is dry, you can remove the template. Next, fill in the various areas of the acetate with glass paints. Be generous with the paint for a nice smooth finish. For the face, mix a spot of red and yellow paint with some Gloss Medium. Leave to dry. |
 Step 4Decorate your painted doll with spots of gold outliner, as shown in our picture. |
 Step 5Once completely dry, cut out your doll with a small pair of sharp scissors. Coat the back lightly with spray adhesive and press it on to the front of your card blank, so that the left edge of the doll aligns with the fold. |
 Step 6Cut away any excess areas of the card blank from around the edges of the doll. |
