Learn how simple folds turn into intricate shapes for your cards – Shirley Toogood is our guide
Create a striking black and white rosette using eight shapes made from half tiles, so one set of tiles will make two cards. I made my own tiles using a stamp set, but you can use any black and white tiles, so why not look online? Layering your finished folded shapes on to simple circles shows off the kaleidoscope effect, with adhesive diamanté gems accentuating the pattern. This card would be great for all occasions as you can easily choose the greeting to suit.
Step 1Begin by cutting each of your tea bag squares in half so that you make eight identical rectangles. Use a metal ruler and craft knife to get a neat, even cut. |
Step 2With right side up, fold the rectangle in half and open up to give a valley fold. Turn over so the wrong side faces up and fold the bottom right corner up to the top centre. |
Step 3Fold the bottom left corner up the centre to match, then fold the right-hand point across to line up with the centre. Next, fold the left point up to meet the right point. |
Step 4Make eight of these finished folded shapes, then stick them around a circle of card to create the medallion shape. Fix them to your card front on circles of coloured card. |
